Our new signing Mohammed Siraj has affirmed that his high-profile move from Bandari FC to Gor Mahia is the just reward for years of persistent hard work.
The defender, fresh from national duty with the Harambee Stars at the CHAN tournament, revealed he anticipated the transfer to Kenya’s record-breaking champions based on his consistent performances.
“I was expecting such a big move because I worked hard in all those years I was at Bandari and it’s the right time. Hopefully the move will help me in my career and take me to the next level,” a confident Siraj stated.
Siraj is among a strong contingent of ten Gor Mahia players who were part of the national team setup, a fact he believes will be a significant advantage for the club. Despite the Stars’ disappointing quarter-final exit to Madagascar, he insists the overall experience was massively beneficial.
“The experience we gained at the CHAN tournament was massive. We had a good number of Gor Mahia players in the national team and we had positives and experience which we can instill here and help the team.”
Rather than being intimidated by the immense pressure and expectations that come with playing for Gor Mahia, Siraj welcomes it. He believes the club’s winning mentality and demanding fanbase will forge him into a better player, providing the perfect platform to achieve his personal dreams.
“The pressure and high expectations at Gor Mahia are positive to me because it will make me work harder knowing very well things are not easy here. I know the big brand the club has and my dream too as a player; I know I am at the right team so I will just handle the pressure well,” he explained.
Siraj is now focused on integrating his international experience with the club’s core philosophy, aiming to help the club achieve domestic and continental success.
