Gor Mahia begin title defence against Murang’a Seal

September 18, 2026

Gor Mahia will officially begin the pursuit of a record-extending 23rd league title on Saturday when K’Ogalo welcome Murang’a Seal to the capital for our opening SportPesa League fixture of the 2026/27 season.

The match kicks off at 3:00pm at Nyayo National Stadium, with the reigning champions looking to start the new campaign on a positive note.

After the disappointment of our CAF Champions League campaign, attention now turns firmly to domestic matters. With another long league season ahead, K’Ogalo will be looking to put that continental setback behind us and immediately establish the momentum required for another title challenge.

Saturday’s opponents are familiar foes.Since Murang’a Seal earned promotion to the top flight in the 2023/24 season, the two sides have met six times in the league.

The first encounter ended in a goalless draw, but K’Ogalo have remained unbeaten in every meeting since then, recording three victories and three draws, including doing a double over them last season.

Across those six matches, Gor Mahia have scored 11 goals, while conceding just six.

Our goals in this fixture have also been shared among several players. Benson Omalla, Musa Sharrif and Ebenezer Assifuah are our joint leading scorers against Murang’a Seal, with two goals each.

That record will give K’Ogalo confidence as we prepare to renew the rivalry on Saturday, but past results will count for little once the whistle goes.

With the ultimate prize already firmly in sight, Gor Mahia will be looking to make an early statement.

A victory at Nyayo would provide the perfect start to our campaign and put the champions on the front foot as we begin the long journey towards another league crown. The Green Army will be there to provide the familiar roar.
