In an emotionally charged encounter at Nyayo Stadium, we delivered a powerful performance to honour the late Patron, Raila Odinga, securing a decisive 3-0 victory against a determined Posta Rangers side.
The match, played before a vocal crowd, served as a memorial for the beloved Patron who was a staunch club supporter.
The first half proved to be a tense, tactical battle, with both teams cancelling each other out in a tightly contested midfield duel. Despite the highly charged atmosphere, clear-cut chances were scarce, and the teams headed into the break with the deadlock yet to be broken.
The game, however, transformed dramatically in the second half. We emerged with renewed purpose and broke the resistance in the 58th minute.
The opener came from substitute Ben Stanley, who rose magnificently to meet a pinpoint cross from Musa Shariff, directing a powerful header past the Posta Rangers goalkeeper.
Thirteen minutes later, Austin Odhiambo demonstrated sharp awareness, pouncing on a costly defensive error to calmly slot the ball home and double the advantage.
With Posta Rangers struggling to mount a comeback, another substitute, Felix Oluch, put the result beyond any doubt, firing in the third goal in the second minute of added time to seal a comprehensive and emotionally significant win.
Head coach Charles Akonnor praised his team’s resilience and tactical discipline: “They made it difficult in the first half…. but after a discussion at halftime on how we should go about it, with patience and time, we managed to score goals. We have shown that we are very strong tactically.”
This comfortable win provides a significant boost to our campaign, propelling us to third place on the log with nine points from four matches.
The team now sits just a single point adrift of the league leaders, firmly announcing their intentions as serious title contenders this season. The victory served not only as crucial points but as a perfect sporting tribute to late Patron, Raila Odinga.
