Head coach Charles Akonnor has expressed satisfaction with the team’s positive atmosphere in training, praising the players’ motivation and competitiveness as the club continues its preparations for the Bandari FC fixture.

Akonnor said the high spirits within the squad were encouraging, particularly with players who are not in the starting lineup showing a strong desire to earn playing time.

“The team training is in high spirit, and that is a motivation. We are very happy that even those who are not starting are showing interest in wanting to play,” Akonnor said.

The Ghanaian tactician noted that players coming off the bench can play a decisive role in determining match outcomes, stressing the importance of having a motivated squad beyond the first eleven.

“Sometimes you can even win matches from the bench,” he added, underlining the need for every player to remain ready to contribute whenever called upon.

Akonnor also provided a positive update on the team’s injury situation, revealing that Gor Mahia have largely avoided significant injury concerns, with the club captain being the main exception.

“We are very fortunate that there are not many injuries, except for our captain,” he said.

The coach further confirmed that forward Felix Oluoch has returned to training and is gradually working his way back to full fitness.

Oluoch’s return offers Gor Mahia a timely boost, although Akonnor indicated that the player will need a few more weeks before he is fully fit and ready to return to competitive action.

“Oluoch is also back in training and is getting back. In a few weeks, he will be fully fit,” Akonnor stated.

The positive training atmosphere, combined with Oluoch’s gradual recovery, provides encouragement for K’Ogalo as they seek to maintain squad depth and competitiveness throughout the season.
