January promised to be a stern test for us, with six fixtures packed into a demanding schedule. We however rose to the challenge in emphatic fashion, winning five of the six matches to post an impressive 83% success rate and emerge from the month firmly in control of the title race.
The journey began with a statement performance away to Kariobangi Sharks, where K’Ogalo registered a convincing 4–1 victory to set the tone for the weeks ahead. That was followed by a goalless draw away to Shabana in Kisii, the only match of the month in which we failed to find the back of the net.
Back at home, we were tested by an in-form Murang’a Seal side. After conceding twice early in the first half, Gor Mahia produced a stirring comeback to secure a dramatic 3–2 win. New Ghanaian forward Ebenezer Assifuah announced his arrival in style, netting the winner in a match that underlined the team’s fighting spirit.
Momentum continued with a dominant 3–0 victory over Mara Sugar, a result that helped us establish ourselves at the summit of the league table. Another tough away assignment followed against Bidco FC, where we once again showed our championship credentials. Trailing midway through the first half, Assifuah drew us level in the 58th minute before Paul Ochuoga’s stunning stoppage-time strike sealed a memorable comeback victory and sent our hordes of fans into raptures.
The month concluded in style at Nyayo Stadium with a commanding 3–0 win over Sofapaka. A powerful first-half display effectively settled the contest early, allowing us to close out January four points clear of their nearest challengers.
We begin February against Dero FC in the FKF Cup before travelling to Kericho to resume our league fixtures against APS Bomet.
