CAF sets date for Champions League preliminary draw

Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reportedly scheduled the preliminary draw for the 2026–27 CAF Champions League for August 6, 2026 in Cairo, Egypt.

According to an official from CAF’s Club Competitions Committee, the ceremony will take place immediately after the club registration system closes and national associations approve all participating teams’ final squads.

Gor Mahia, are poised to fly the country’s flag in Africa’s premier club competition.

The campaign will kick off in the First Preliminary Round, with the first-leg matches slated for September 4-6, 2026. Return legs will follow a week later, between September 11-13.

Second Preliminary Round are scheduled for October 16-18, 2026, with the decisive return fixtures set for October 23-25.

The draw will set the stage for what promises to be another thrilling continental showdown, as clubs from across Africa battle for the coveted trophy and a spot in the group stage.
