Gor Mahia assistant coach Bismark Kobi has expressed confidence in the team’s quality and progress after K’Ogalo secured a narrow 1-0 victory over APS Bomet in their SportPesa League encounter at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay.
Kobi praised the players for their performance, saying the squad was showing positive signs as the defending champions continued their campaign in pursuit of another league title.
“I think the boys have learnt their lesson. We have a very good squad quality,” Kobi said after the match.
The assistant coach, however, emphasised the importance of mental preparation, insisting that every player must remain ready to contribute whenever given an opportunity.
“What is left is our mental preparation, and every player has to be ready at any given time,” he added.
Kobi also acknowledged the challenge Gor Mahia face from opponents who are highly motivated whenever they come up against the record Kenyan champions.
According to the tactician, the determination of rival teams makes it necessary for Gor Mahia to maintain their focus and approach every match with the right mentality.
“Players and clubs are very motivated to play against Gor Mahia,” Kobi noted, while expressing satisfaction with the team’s performances so far this season.
“So far, I think the players have done very well,” he added.
Gor Mahia secured all three points against APS Bomet through Alpha Onyango, who converted an assist from Ben Stanley to score the decisive goal.
The victory maintained K’Ogalo’s position at the top of the league standings, providing another boost to their ambitions of retaining the championship and pursuing a record-extending 23rd league title.
With the season still in its early stages, Kobi’s remarks underline the technical bench’s confidence in the squad as Gor Mahia seek to combine their quality with consistency, mental strength and readiness across the campaign.
