In a landmark occasion, Gor Mahia secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Tusker FC at Kasarani Stadium today, claiming the spoils in our 100th-ever league meeting
A costly early mistake by Tusker proved decisive. In the 8th minute, defender Collins Odhiambo misplayed a back pass under pressure, allowing the ball to roll past his goalkeeper Brian Opondo and into the net for our only goal.
We pressed from the start, using high energy to force errors and build momentum. Tusker gradually grew into the game with Denis Oalo testing Byrne Omondi, before a corner from Enock Morrison saw Sylvester Owino head powerfully at goal, only for Opondo to parry.
At halftime, we led 1–0 and maintained control into the second half, despite Tusker’s late substitutions to try to force a breakthrough. We responded by reinforcing the midfield, bringing in Ebenezer Adu-kwaw and Alpha Onyango to protect our lead and manage the game.
The victory boosts our title ambitions, extending our lead at the top of the SportPesa League table. It cements our dominance in the head-to-head, now recording our 41st win in 100 league meetings with Tusker.
