In a tightly fought contest at Nyayo National Stadium, AFL Leopards secured a 1-0 victory over Gor Mahia in the 98th Mashemeji Derby.
The only goal of the match arrived around the 25th minute, when Julius Masaba found space in the box and slotted home after a cross from the flank.
Gor Mahia looked dangerous at times, with forward moves and pressing in midfield, but were unable to convert their chances or break down Leopards’ defence effectively.
AFC Leopards defended well, absorbed pressure and struck when the opportunity came, winning against the run of play.
The result ends Gor Mahia’s run of recent dominance over their rivals and gives Leopards a crucial derby win. It is a setback in our title ambitions and the team will now look to bounce back quickly.
