Kibwage calls on team mates to remain motivated

September 8, 2026

Captain Mike Kibwage has urged his teammates to remain motivated and use their 2-0 defeat to Pyramids FC as a learning experience ahead of the CAF Champions League return leg in Cairo.

Despite the setback, Kibwage believes the result should not break the team’s spirit, insisting the players must learn from their mistakes and approach the return fixture with renewed determination and motivation.

“We have really tried but few mistakes on the pitch cost us and we have had a good experience for the return leg, every day we get better even when we meet them again next week, I urge my fellow players that we stay motivated.”

The captain called on his teammates to remain united and believe in their ability to produce a strong response in Egypt.

“It is a learning moment for us. We have to pick ourselves up, remain motivated and focus on the return leg. We know what is at stake and we have to believe that we can get a positive result in Cairo.”

Kibwage’s message comes as Gor faces a difficult task in Cairo, where they will need to overturn a two-goal deficit to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

The return leg is scheduled for September 13 at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.

With the first leg now behind, Gor Mahia will have little time to dwell on the defeat before the trip to Cairo.

The challenge now is to turn the lessons from Nyayo into a better performance in Cairo and mount what would be a remarkable comeback.
