Midfielder Enock Machaka is set to miss two CAF Champions League preliminary-round fixtures after being handed a suspension by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The ban stems from Machaka’s red card in Nairobi United’s final CAF Confederation Cup group-stage match against AS Maniema Union of DR Congo last season.
CAF has classified the incident as serious foul play, resulting in a suspension that carries over to the upcoming continental campaign.
“For serious foul play, Enock Machka was expelled and is he is automatically suspended for his next two official matches,” stated a letter by CAF.
The preliminary-round matches are scheduled to begin in September.
