Meet Denis Omedi, the Pearl of Africa’s finest

July 31, 2026

We are delighted to announce the signing of Ugandan international striker Denis Omedi, who joins us on ahead of the 2026/27 season.

One of East Africa’s most accomplished forwards in recent years, Omedi arrives with an impressive pedigree that combines proven goalscoring ability, international experience and continental pedigree.

His arrival significantly strengthens K’Ogalo’s attacking options as the club prepares to defend its league title and mount a strong challenge in the domestic cup, Cecafa club championsip and most important, the CAF Champions League.

Omedi’s rise to the top of East African football has been nothing short of remarkable. He began his career with Booma FC in Uganda before earning a move to Kitara FC, where he announced himself as one of the region’s deadliest strikers.

During the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League season, he scored 15 league goals, finishing among the league’s top scorers and helping Kitara enjoy an outstanding debut campaign in the top flight.

He also played a crucial role in the club’s historic Uganda Cup triumph, carrying his prolific form into the CAF Confederation Cup, where he found the net twice in two appearances.

His outstanding performances earned him a transfer to Rwandan giants APR FC in early 2025, where he further enhanced his reputation by competing at the highest level of East African football.

Alongside his club exploits, Omedi became a regular for the Uganda Cranes, scoring important goals during Uganda’s successful qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations before also finding the net at the tournament itself.

Beyond his goals, Omedi attracted worldwide attention for his exceptional technical ability with his spectacular rabona strike against KCCA FC earning nominations for both the 2024 FIFA Puskás Award and the CAF Goal of the Year Award, with the Ugandan international finishing third in the FIFA Puskás Award voting.

The striker also boasts an inspiring story of perseverance. Before establishing himself as a professional footballer, Omedi balanced his football career while working as a nurse and serving with the Uganda Prisons Service, a journey that reflects the resilience and determination that have defined his career.

As we to return to continental football, Omedi’s experience at both international and CAF club level is expected to be invaluable.

His ability to score goals, lead the line, hold up play and thrive in high-pressure matches makes him a major addition to Coach Charles Akonnor’s squad as K’Ogalo seeks success both domestically and across Africa.

Everyone at Gor Mahia warmly welcomes Denis Omedi to the Green Army and wishes him every success in green and white as we embark on an exciting new chapter together.
