Morrison relishes captaincy role, Bandi marks welcome return

February 1, 2026

Gor Mahia’s latest victory was capped by strong leadership from stand-in captain Enock Morrison and an encouraging comeback appearance from Lewis Bandi, who featured for the first time after a long spell on the sidelines.

Morrison, who wore the armband on the day, expressed pride at leading the team and credited collective focus for the result.

“It is a great feeling to be the leader of a great team. It was a big task, but I thank God we delivered,” said Morrison. “We are focused, we always keep an eye on the table and we know goals are very important. We told ourselves that we have to take all the chances we get.”

The midfielder also highlighted the positive atmosphere in camp as we continue our title push.

“The mood is very good. We are focused, well-motivated, and courageous now that we can see the league within reach. We just have to keep pushing until the end,” he added.

There was also a special moment for Lewis Bandi, who made his long-awaited return to action after battling a lengthy injury.

“I thank God for this opportunity, and I thank my coaches and teammates for encouraging me throughout the season,” Bandi said. “I had a long-term injury, but now I am back. It was just a few minutes, but I am glad it was a proper win to welcome me back. It feels good to be back on the pitch and to feel the fans recognizing you.”

Looking ahead, Bandi made it clear that the squad’s ambitions extend beyond the league.

“This season we are trying our best to win the league and also the cup. We are going for two trophies, nothing less than that.”
