No room for slip-ups, coach Akonnor warns ahead of Sharks clash

April 3, 2026

Gor Mahia host Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday in SportPesa League fixture at Kasarani Stadium, with kick-off set for 3:15pm.

The league leaders remain unbeaten this year and are determined to keep their perfect record against Sharks intact, having won all five previous meetings.

Ahead of the clash, head coach Charles Akonnor has emphasized focus and preparation. “We are fully aware of Sharks’ style of play. We have a plan and we believe it will work in our favour,” he said.

Gor Mahia have won four of their last five matches, drawing once. In contrast, Sharks have managed just two wins in their last five outings, losing three times. After 25 rounds, K’Ogalo top the table with 56 points, while Sharks languish in 15th place with only 25 points.

Despite the commanding position, Akonnor refuses to be complacent: “Being on top comes with pressure. We must not take anything for granted. We have worked hard to get here, so keeping the momentum and staying committed is key,” he added.

Injury concerns include Bynne Omondi, Sylvester Owino, and Felix Oluoch, but the coach confirmed the rest of the squad is fit and ready for selection.
