Gor Mahia players showed that the bond between the team and its supporters goes beyond the result after remaining on the pitch to sing the club anthem alongside fans following the 2-0 defeat to Pyramids FC at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

K’Ogalo suffered a disappointing start to their CAF Champions League campaign, with Pyramids taking a two-goal advantage in the first leg.

Despite the painful defeat, Gor Mahia players chose not to immediately head to the dressing room.

Instead, they stayed on the pitch as the Green Army continued singing the famous Gor Mahia anthem.

The emotional moment provided a powerful show of solidarity, with the players acknowledging the supporters who had turned up in large numbers to back them against the reigning African champions.

Rather than allowing the defeat to divide the team and fans, the players joined the supporters in celebrating the identity and spirit of K’Ogalo, a gesture that underlined the famous “Gor is more than a football club” philosophy.

The show of unity comes at a difficult moment for Gor Mahia, who now faces the daunting task of overturning a 2-0 deficit in the return leg in Cairo on September 13
