Star forward Felix Oluoch faces lengthy spell after surgery

March 3, 2026

Leading marksman Felix Oluoch was confirmed to be facing a lengthy spell on the treatment table.

The forward has been ruled out for up to three months following a knee operation, an absence that will likely extend until the start of the next season.

The club’s medical team confirmed the procedure on the player, who has netted seven goals this campaign to lead K’Ogalo’s scoring chart. Team Doctor Brian Odongo provided details on the nature of the injury and the recovery timeline ahead.

“Felix Oluoch successfully underwent a knee surgery for an osteochondral injury and torn meniscus yesterday. He is stable and is expected to return to play in 12 weeks depending on his rehabilitation progress and recovery milestones achieved,” Odongo stated.

The new development now leaves a significant gap in the team’s attacking department and with the transfer window shut, head coach Charles Akonnor is turning to the players at his disposal.

The responsibility of leading the line now falls squarely on the shoulders of Ebenezer Assifuah. Akonnor stressed the need to keep the striker fit as the team navigates a crucial phase of the season.

“Felix is now out and probably until next season. We are now left with Ebenezer Assifuah as the main striker and we have to manage him well so that we go about the remaining matches without a major setback,” Akonnor said.

Looking ahead, the former Ghana international hinted at reinforcements once the transfer period resumes. He emphasized the need to strengthen the squad to compete at higher levels.

“We may have to add another striker when the window opens as we aim to up our standards for bigger stages,” he added.

Akonnor admitted that the situation presents a considerable test for his squad but expressed confidence in their ability to adapt. He underlined the importance of sound judgment in the heat of competition.

“It’s challenging, but such are the situations that we do face. It will mean we make some certain decisions to balance things as we try to maintain our focus through the season. Depending on situations at hand, we will make good decisions that will be of great significance to the team,” Akonnor stated.

We currently sit at the summit of the standings with 49 points, enjoying a six-point advantage over AFC Leopards. As the pressure intensifies, Akonnor believes the psychological strength of his players will be their greatest asset.

“At such a point, mental toughness is key, and that’s one thing we have perfected and trained the boys on. They know what to do and at what time. Focus is on winning and that means they need to do the right thing,” the coach concluded.
