Gor Mahia underlined their title credentials with a comprehensive 3–0 win over Sofapaka in Game Week 19, producing a first-half blitz that effectively settled the contest and showcased their growing authority at the summit of the SportPesa League.
We struck three times inside the opening 32 minutes to put the game beyond reach. Frank Odhiambo opened the scoring in the 13th minute, before Sylvester Owino doubled the advantage six minutes later.
Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw then calmly converted from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute to complete a ruthless first-half performance.
Beyond the goals, the numbers told a clear story of Gor Mahia’s control
We enjoyed 63% possession, dictating the tempo throughout and limiting Sofapaka to long spells without the ball. We also registered 15 shot attempts compared to Sofapaka’s 6, highlighting our attacking intent, while completing 421 passes at an impressive 89% accuracy, a reflection of our composure and cohesion in midfield.
Although Sofapaka posted a higher shot accuracy (67% to Gor Mahia’s 47%), they struggled to translate that efficiency into genuine goal threat, as our defensive structure held firm.
Gor Mahia also edged the set-piece battle with five corners to Sofapaka’s three and maintained discipline, finishing the match without a single yellow card.
The result capped a dominant all-round display, combining early clinical finishing with assured game management.
With three goals, superior possession, and control across all key metrics, Gor Mahia delivered a statement performance that reinforces their momentum in the title race.
